"I tried to pass for nothing, but my dreams gave me away"
CASSADAGA,
by Bright Eyes, has just made it to my all time favorite albums list.
I've been a Bright Eyes fan for several years now, and we've actually owned Cassadaga since it came out in 2007, but the more I listen to it the more it moves me. Don't get me wrong, I loved it at once, and it was instantly my favorite Bright Eyes album, but now I'm officially promoting it.
I would highly recommend that you take the time to listen to this album, no matter what your musical tendencies may be. And I mean listen to it. Go into a quiet room, turn the lights down or off, and turn the music up loud enough so that you can't hear anything else. Or, go for a drive with this album, gas is half-priced now after all. Really listen to it.
To make it to my list of Favorite Albums of All Time, a piece of music has to really move me. I like a lot of music, but sometimes something will make a deeper impact than just "Oh, that's nice to listen to." This is an exclusive list, and I think that Cassadaga is one of those albums that will knock your socks (or stockings) off.
Here is a sample of what else is on my list:
(This is in no way a complete list, because I've never before tried to document this)
U2 - The Joshua Tree
Joe Strummer - StreetCore
Tom Waits - Frank's Wild Years
REM - Automatic For The People
Guided By Voices - Under The Bushes Under The Stars
Paul Simon - Graceland
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Luna - Penthouse
Wilco - Summerteeth
The Cure - Disintegration
Brian Hall - The Sound Of Summer Voices Crashing
Tom Petty - Southern Accents
As you can see, this is a pretty exclusive list. Like I said, I listen to a lot of music, but this is the stuff that moves me. So go listen to Cassadaga and tell me what you think.
