Watching?

This is not the Eye of Sauron.

It is the Star Fomalhaut, and it is in the process of forming it's very own solar system, which scientist believe could be very similar to our own. Fomalhaut is a young star, believed to be somewhere between 100 and 300 million years old.

This is an overlay of several images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. It's not visible here, but Hubble has photographs of a forming planet in the ring of dust. As this is studied, it could offer fresh insight into how our planet and solar system formed.

Fomalhaut is the brightest star in the constellation Pisces Austrinus, about 25 light years from us.
