Have Fun In Space!

Gene Roddenberry and his wife are about to launched into space on a one way journey to "Where no man has gone before." Don't worry, they're both dead.

As it has been explained to me in the past, you are either a Trekkie (sp?) or a Star Wars fan. I was always somewhere in between, but leaning more towards a Star Wars fan. Well, George Lucas started an active campaign to shake my dedication with the PREQUELLIOGY OF CRAP, and now I would say that I'm back in the middle.

I really (really really really) enjoyed the original Star Wars Trilogy, and I really like Star Trek Next Generation. Jean Luc Picard was the coolest Captain ever. (Sorry to any Shatner fans out there, but Kirk got on my nerves.) But that was the extent of my Star Trek Fandom. I know that there were about six different TV shows and 53 movies, but Next Generation was the only one I really enjoyed. Alright, some of the movies were pretty good, especially the ones without Kirk.

Anyway, I'm glad that Roddenberry gets to spend eternity in space. I think he would have liked that. That is how he had Spock buried, remember. Of course Kirk was able to bring Spock back to life with a Lucas-type plot hole. But alas, we're here today to say good-bye to a great Science Fiction writer.

Thank you Gene Roddenberry. Have fun in space.
